a holiday sleeping on deck, under a velvet, star filled sky, listening to the sea lap at the hull below you.
...we can make it a reality for you."

What to bring
Travel
light is our best advice to you, swimwear and T-shirts is all you will need on board in the daytime. In the evenings
people dress casually, but bring sweaters and trousers if you are coming in the cooler months. It's a good idea
to bring a pair of soft shoes or sandals just to use on the boat.
On board we provide hand towels only so please bring your own bath and beach towels. All this should be packed
into a soft bag which can be folded and stowed away to give more room in your cabin, not a suitcase.
The Mediterranean sun is very bright and on a boat hotter than you think, be sure to pack sunglasses, a good suntan
lotion and a hat. If mosquitoes find you tasty then bring mosquito repellent and a camera is an absolute must.

Dodecanese islands
|
|
Here is a rough guide
to your week to the Greek islands North
Dodecanese

Day 1: Embarkation,
welcome drink and program briefing in Bodrum harbor.
Day 1: Bodrum
Boarding starts at 15:30 from Bodrum Harbour. Guests who arrive early may leave their luggage at the Barbaros Yachting
Office. Bodrum has a history that goes back to the 12th century B.C. The city which was called 'Halicarnassus'
was the birthplace of Herodotus; the 'Father of History' who lived in the 5th century B.C. The 'Mausoleum' of King
Mausolus (350 B.C.) which is one of the Seven Wonders of the World is in this city. The only structure that survived
from the Classical Era is the Amphitheatre. It is one of the oldest theatres in Anatolia with a capacity of 13.000
guests, and is still hosting many shows and concerts for the art-lovers of Bodrum. Another place that you should
visit whilst in Bodrum is the landmark of the city 'Castle of Saint Peter'. It is one of the best preserved pieces
of architecture with a history that dates back to the Middle Ages. Dinner and overnight stay in the harbor or at
a nearby cove.
Day 2: Cos ( Kos )
Whilst you have breakfast, we will do paper work at customs and cruise to Kos Island. Asclepion, known to be the
birth place of Hippocrates, 'the Father of Medical Sciences', is located here. All the East- Mediterranean people
with health problems were treated in Kos (Istankoy). Kos; the second largest island of the 12 islands (Dodecanese
islands) has a very mild climate and very fertile lands. The island houses a 560-year-old tree, a 211-year-old
fountain and a 290 km long beach. You may take a swim in Lambi Beach which is very close to Kos Harbour. Kos is
one of the islands with the best night life. Nafklirou, a street full of bars, is always crowded, colourful, and
full of life.
Day 3: Leros
We will cruise to the beautiful island of Leros. Leros is a mountainous, green island with high cliffs and many
small bays and villages. After a swimming break in Xerakampos, we will anchor at Lakki Harbour or Agia Marina Port
located in east. You should visit Platanos the main city of Leros with steep stairs, narrow streets, and flower
gardens. From Platanos you can take the steps leading up the Castle of Leros climbing 300 steps! Rent a bike or
explore this island by foot.
Day 4: Patmos
We will cruise to Patmos Island early in the morning. We will have a swimming stop in a bay around the island.
Patmos is not a big island, but it is one of the best known. It was here St. John had his vision and wrote the
apocalypse, and this is why Patmos is sometimes called "The Jerusalem of the Aegean". The Monastery of
St. Johns towers above the capital, a village called Chora, and the whole island breathes of faith and devotion.
According to mythology, Patmos was a present from Zeus to his daughter Artemis, goddess of hunting and young women.
She was worshipped here in antiquity, and the monastery of St. John was built on her temple. After breakfast we
may have a walk through the monasteries. Our yacht will stay overnight in Patmos Port.
Day 5: Lipsi
We will set sail to Lipsi Island. We have a swimming stop in one of the many small islands in front of Lipsi. On
Lipsi Island there are beautiful sandy beaches, like Platis Giolos with its crystal green waters. On the small
natural port is the capital, with its white houses and its beautiful square, where you can find numerous taverns,
cafeterias and restaurants. On the island the church of the Catopanaghia constructed in the 770d.c deserves a visit,
along with the church of Panopanaghia 1500d.c.
Day 6: Kalimnos
We will take a swimming stop in a beautiful bay around the Kalimnos Island. We are going to enter Pothia Harbour
which is the capital. The islander ensured their lively hood with sponge diving for centuries. There are nice beaches
such as Massouri, Mirties and Vlyhadia around the Island.
Day 7: Turgutreis
- Karaincir - Bodrum
We will return to Turkey through Turgutreis Port. We will have a swimming stop at Karaincir on the way back to
Bodrum.
We will be staying in Bodrum Harbour for dinner and our final overnight stay.
Day 8: Bodrum
We will leave the boat with precious memories by 10:30 after breakfast.
Please note that this is only
a rough guide and can be varied to suite requirements. Also note that the route may vary slightly, depending on
weather conditions and time available, at the Captains discretion
The places you will see on the itinerary Dodecanese North

Kos
Among other beautiful stops, here is the chance to visit the birthplace of Hippocrates and take a trip round the
historical sites of the town, the Temple of Dionysus, the Asclepeion and the tree under which Hippocrates Oath
was composed are just a few. This island is rich in archaeology including Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Venetian
sites. Despite the amount of tourists in the summer you can still get away, though a good guidebook like Lonely
Planet is recommended.

Leros
The main port of Laki is one of the best examples of Art Deco Architecture. It was designed by Mussilini's architects
in 1923, though in defiance of the dictator, the capital was moved above to the village of Platanos. It is also
the base for sailing trips to the coast of Turkey and the other Dodekanese islands.
Leros island, this little paradise situated in the Aegean sea, a place where visitors can relax, to have a very
nice swim, to have a very good meal, or to have a crazy night partying.
The goddesses of antiquity, who were distinguished for their beauty, chose illustrious sites to build their palaces.
This is also what ARTEMIS did, the goddess of hunt. She chose an extremely beautiful island, lying in the blue
waters of the Aegean, with vegetation, She chose LEROS, a truly divine choice.

Kalymnos
Spongefishermen's island. The main port of Pothia is lined with cafes and as home to Greece's spongefishing fleet
is a working town. There is a sponge museum there too. There are resort beaches around the island and several other
small ports and towns worth visiting. Kalymnos is connected by an almost daily boat from Pireaus to the other major
islands of the Dodecanese chain and also a ferry and hydrofoil to Samos.

Patmos
is a spectacular island with great beaches and landscape, this is where the Apocolypse of John, or Revelations
was written. The main town of Skala caters to the many people who arrive on cruise ships but is still a comfortable
enough place to base yourself to see the rest of the island. A place you have to visit is the monastery of Saint
John the Theologian above Skala and the Monastery of the Apocalypse built around the cave where John had his vision
of the end of times. A popular island with spiritually minded people, there is no denying the feeling of sacredness
here.

Cabin Charter - general information
All
tours which are offered here on this page take place on Standard Yachts, traditional Bodrum-built GULETS. These
yachts have about 22-24 meters length and
accommodate between 12 and 16 guests in 6 to 8 cabins. The cabins have en-suite WC & showers. (Hot & cold). There
is a music set, VHF Radiotelephone and a dinghy on each yacht, but mainly no air-condidition. The Crew consists of
a captain, cook and a deckshand.
We advice you to give us your mobile
phone that we stay in contact to give you captain's number and boat location.
The crew aboard our Gulets and yachts often do not have a foreign language mastered, but they almost always know
a few ’every-day’ phrases and are able to understand almost all requests.
