Rocktombs in Fethiye

Our voyage starts in Marmaris Situated on a bay, backed by rugged pineclad mountains, Marmaris is a most attractive maritime parklands, ideal for water sports and sailing. It makes an excellent starting point for a "Blue Voyage" tour of the Aegean coastline. With plenty of provisions aboard you set sail in the craft of your choice and languidly explore the spectacular beauty of southern Turkey. More about Marmaris
Taste Turkish cuisine in one of the marina restaurants and drink raki, anisette, the traditional Turkish way, over ice and diluted with water. Later stroll along the brightly lit palm-lined promenade and indulge yourself at one of the ice cream vendors. Energetic entertainment at a lively bar or dancing until dawn at a sophisticated disco can end a perfect day. There are many good buys in Marmaris's boutiques, colorlul bazaars and markets.

Travelling west through the pretty Ekincik region, you reach Dalyan, Kaunos and Istuzu Beach. Spend a day exploring this area, starting with a trip down the densely vegetated Dalyan river delta to the ruins of Caunos, which was an important Carian and Lycian city. The town of Dalyan is overlooked by incredible tombs carved, sometime during the 4th century BC, into the sheer cliff face hundreds of feet up.

Looking forwards to
                                                the next stop

According to local legend , the sulphurous Mud Baths and hot springs will ‘take ten years off you’. The golden sands of Istuzu Beach are a great place to relax, as well as an important breeding ground for Caretta Caretta loggerhead sea turtle

The next major stop is Fethiye.
Fethiye was an important city of the Lycian epoch - dating back to around 500BC - when it was known as Telmessos. Today, there are few remnants of the town’s history, though there are still several magnificent Lycian rock tombs overlooking the town, the partial ruins of a fort believed to have been built by the knights of St John, and a recently unearthed amphitheatre. An earthquake destroyed much of the town in the 1950s.

Arriving to Marmaris, embarkation starts at 15.30 pm. You will have time for visiting the old town and bazaar of Marmaris with its small streets and hundreds of shops, bars and restaurants. The castle of Marmaris lies on the old town hill and offers a beautiful view across the harbor. Overnight stay will be in Marmaris. There won’t be any meals served on board.

After breakfast one of our guides will come on board and give information about the route and everything else. After the info the tour will start and sailing towards Ekincik on the engine. In this bay we have an optional excursion which is called Dalyan (with the mud bath) and the
ruins of Caunos. You can discover this area with small boats from Ekincik bay. Passing through the river which is covered with reefs, don’t forget to take your camera with you. And you can see the famous rock tombs on the hill which belongs to the kings and their family. Visiting the Caretta Caretta beach (Iztuzu) will be the last point. The Caretta Caretta turtles are coming to this area to dig and lay their eggs in the sand. Overnight Stay at Ekincik bay.

                                                          on a Blue

All tours which are offered here take place on a Standard Gulet Yacht with Air-condition (up to 8 hours a day), the traditional Bodrum-built GULET. All yachts are between 19 - 25 meters length, these vessels accommodate between 12 and 16 guests in 6 to 8 cabins. The cabins have en-suite WC & handheld showers. (Hot & cold). There is a music set, VHF Radiotelephone and a dinghy on each yacht. Crew consists of a captain, cook and a deckhand.
An exact yacht’s name can not be available until 1 or 2 days before departure, as numbers of bookings come in often late. This works well over the years like a cooperative and we advice you to give us your mobile phone that we stay in contact to give you captain's number and boat name.
The crew aboard our Gulets and yachts often do not have a foreign language mastered, but they almost always know a few ’every-day’ phrases and are able to understand almost all requests.
